Xeomin is the ideal alternative to Botox, a cosmetic injectable that suppresses moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. If you’re an adult feeling self-conscious about your frown lines, you can talk to the certified injectors in Joli Beautique to discuss your options.

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin is a prescription medicine composed of a botulinum neurotoxin (incobotulinumtoxinA). It’s administered by licensed healthcare professionals to reduce the visibility of moderate to severe frown lines (the wrinkles between the eyebrows). The results usually last for up to 4 months.

Does Xeomin Work?

Frown lines appear because of the overuse of the glabellar muscles that produce the creases between your eyebrows when you’re frowning. Repeated movements and contractions lead to permanently-etched frown lines that appear even when your face is at rest. Xeomin contains an acetylcholine release inhibitor that blocks communications between the nerves and the targeted facial muscle, thereby relaxing the frown lines.

Side Effects of Xeomin

The most common side effects of Xeomin include redness, itching, swelling, irritation, and bruising around the injection sites. The bruising can be masked with makeup, and the other side effects gradually dissipate in a few days.

In rare cases, you may also experience neck pain, muscle weakness, eyelid swelling, blurred vision, eyelid drooping, dizziness, wheezing, etc. However, these side effects only occur when the treatment isn’t planned properly, usually in the hands of inexperienced injectors. As such, it’s advisable to visit highly skilled, trained, and certified cosmetic injectors for Xeomin.

Xeomin FAQs:

What to expect with treatment?

Patients receiving Xeomin usually report a mild pinch as the injection goes into the treatment area. You’ll receive a series of 5 injections into the muscles between your eyebrows and forehead for optimal results. If you’re anxious, we can also use a topical numbing cream to prevent discomfort.

After the injections, you may experience mild redness, swelling, irritation, itching, and bruising for a few hours or days. However, you can resume most of your daily activities and work when you leave our medical spa.
.

How is Xeomin different from Botox?

The primary difference between Xeomin and Botox (and all other neuromodulators) is its lack of additives and unnecessary proteins. This prevents your body from developing antibodies against Xeomin, which, in turn, prevents you from developing a resistance to the treatment after repeated use.

Patients using Botox may develop resistance to the treatment after multiple treatments — usually after a few years or regular use. However, patients using Xeomin are less likely to develop resistance. As such, Xeomin is a suitable alternative for patients who have already become resistant to Botox.

When will I see results? How long do the results last?

The results start appearing 3 to 4 days after the treatment, and the maximum effects are achieved within 30 days. The results last for 3 to 4 months.
